Still going through one. It can be absolute hell, do what you can to keep your head on straight and let your children be the driving force behind everything you do for the better.

A custody battle is exactly how it sounds. It’s a battle, a nasty situation where two sides come against each other and war it out. There’s always innocent casualties and in this case it’ll be any child involved. No matter how civil things may seem between the two of you this always ends up bringing out the worst in both of you. The best advice anyone can give is to remain as calm and cool as possible and both do your best to agree on what works best for everyone. Bending over backwards at times should not be considered unfair or off the table because kids aren’t concerned with adult problems. They just want mom and dad. Whatever you think they don’t see or don’t understand I can tell you you’re probably wrong about that. Keep that in mind at all times especially when tempers start flaring. And they will flare regardless of how good or civil you think things might be.
