It’s February, 1986 and Jim Crockett Promotions is having another big month - huge crowds, big gates! The special “The Superstars On The Superstation” will air on TBS, which will showcase a loaded card built on fan-picked dream matches sent in via postcards. And on the special, we get new tag champs, the Midnight Express, who with Jim Cornette, will go on a tear. Cornette’s mouth may lead to him being suspended from a cage in the near future.

The Book itself continues to provide some more insight and mystery, as David and Conrad work through what some of these numbers mean - addresses, phone numbers, and various notes in the margin. We see at times that tabs are being kept on where the WWF is performing, as both companies venture into similar territory from time to time.  The war is on - and there’s an attempt to lure crowds from JCP with counter-booking cards on the same nights with their top talent like Funk, Piper, Hogan and Savage.

We see the final appearance of the 10 Pounds of Gold as the company transitions to their own World Heavyweight Championship belt - forever known as the ‘Big Gold’ - it is shown publicly for the first time surprisingly NOT on a JCP product.

With tag wrestling on fire, The Jim Crockett Sr. Memorial Cup is announced, and while there are rumblings as to where it will be happening, we see some talent throwing their hat in the ring to take part in the event.

Phenomenal interview segments continue to help drive the promotion forward on TV, and we’re also seeing more and more big cliffhanger endings full of run-ins, big pull-apart brawls and more that have Tony and David screaming, “WE GOTTA GO!” Keeping fans at home on the edge of their seats!

It’s all in February of 1986, right here on THE BOOK!

Always a great pleasure to catch The Book ESPECIALLY IN 1986!!! I’m especially always interested to hear the card rundowns for our home-based Philadelphia Civic Center !!

I really enjoy learning about JCP in this era as I know very little about it. Thank you David and Conrad!
