On this edition of The Book, David and Conrad say goodbye to 1985 and turn the page (literally) to JCP's 1986! It’s a new year - and a new book - and as soon as we open it up - there are big differences in how it’s presented. Whose writing is this? Why is it different? What do some of these numbers mean?

1986 starts off with a bang, as Dusty, now teamed with Babydoll, continues his feud with the Horsemen. Ole’s leg is broken, and the target is now on Arn Anderson. Meanwhile Dusty's is healed & cleared, but why won’t he stop wearing that protective boot? Drug testing comes into play at JCP, and results in an under-the-radar title change. Meanwhile, the shows continue to bring in big gates - and big moments take place on television! There’s an upcoming ‘Superstars on the Superstation’ TBS special in the works and JCP are asking fans to submit their ‘dream matches’ - but the request also serves another purpose that will benefit the company.

And speaking of mail, Babydoll gets her first ever fan letter! The correspondence with fans, and on-air shout out to their viewers at home have created a real bonded atmosphere that seems to be really clicking with their audience as the shows continue to bring in great ratings for TBS.

The Midnight Express & the Rock 'n' Roll Express continue to clash, and Jim Cornette is really shining as a pivotal piece of this rivalry.  And the buildup of Ron Garvin and his ‘Hands of Stone’ as he sets his sights on Ric Flair & the NWA World Heavyweight Championship - to go up against the Horsemen - he’ll need an ‘Alliance’ he can count on.  It’s all part of the January edition of ‘The Book’!

So I’ve been listening up to January 7… And I think you guys forgot to mention other than Arn was in a tournament in Greensboro on January 4… the tournament in question was for the NWA world television championship that was vacated by Dusty Rhodes at the end of 1985. Arn defeated Wahoo McDaniel in the tournament final to become the world television champion
