The story of Jim Crockett Promotions in 1985 continues, as we enter into November, and with it comes Starrcade: The Gathering! With shows happening every day this month, the foundation has been laid for big storylines to build up to what will be the major attractions of an all-star card on November 28th. Anticipation becoming so big, that JCP will have it take place in two of their staple locations, the Omni in Atlanta and the Greensboro Coliseum in North Carolina, meanwhile broadcasting to a select few cities via closed circuit television.

The iconic ‘Hard Times’ promo leads to the big Flair vs. Rhodes title match in Atlanta. Meanwhile the grudge match between Tully and Magnum will have a bloody finale inside a steel cage in Greensboro.

It’s a huge payoff for JCP with revenue from both venues, along with the profits from closed circuit - the promotion is as hot as it’s ever been… but will the controversial ‘Dusty Finish’ of the main event cause problems with the fanbase down the road?  Looking back on it almost 40 years later, was it the right choice?  Let’s dive into another chapter of The Book!

So F’ing good! This just hits on another level. The granular question about the satellite feed and why 85 had less piracy is a detail and question I would’ve never thought about. I knew about “master cards or chips” that you could use to get a PPV or whatever for free using satellites but just that conversation about that, makes me want to learn more about that. There was always an allure in my mind about those cheat devices and now that’s triggered my brain to finally do some research about it. Freakin love this show. Worth the price of admission by itself. Great job by all involved 👏👏👏

I can’t get enough of this program! It’s the best show on the Ad Free show platform to me!! I relive my childhood on every show! Especially being at the Philadelphia Civic Center to watch some of these big shows! Keep it up guys! I really appreciate!
