I say this not to be funny but to potentially be enlightened, and I compare only because that's what everyone seems to be doing nowadays; what are the B and C storylines of WWE? AEW keep being told to do stories like WWE, I've only really seen The Bloodline for 2 plus years - has it made any new stars? Is there a compelling story for Brock Vs Omos (who has been in witness protection for months), does Bray Wyatt make any sense at all? I do agree AEW creative needs work, but WWE lite isn't the way to go

Right on John. I used to refer to those marathon Manias as a "work shift." I was at all of them. They were indeed, BRUTAL!

That's how far we have come. They put together one long term storyline and everyone loses their mind. Seems like fans still want to be entertained by story, not spot fests, if you ask me.

My response to that has always been though: especially now with so much non-wrasslin story on offer via streaming platforms (and even video games nowadays), why do you need to watch wrestling for it? I mean, I get say The Young Bucks might not be for you, but so many fans don't seem to like any wrestling at all, it confuses me

I've always watched wrestling for the story that is told in the ring. In your example, the Young Bucks don't tell a story. They do everything they can possibly do, whether it makes any sense or not. That's not wrestling. It's gymnastics. I don't watch wrestling for gymnastics.

I 100% get your take (I always enjoy their matches tbf), its tough to get somewhere in the middle in terms of story and work rate.

I can agree there. I think the scales have just tipped a bit too far the other way for my tastes. The Lucha guys were doing the same thing in the 90s, and I enjoyed that because it was different. So there’s admittedly some bias there. Just need more story for my tastes and I’d put up with the rest, if that makes sense.

Not sure if this could ever be covered on Strictly Business or if it’s a more Ask Eric Anything question, but if WCW was around in September 2001 what would the first Nitro or Thunder after 9/11 look like? Or just in general- booking after significant world events.
