"Revisiting wrestling history in the handwriting it was originally written in."

What a pivotal month February 1985 was for the wrestling business. We're only one month away from Vince putting on the very first WrestleMania. And over on the other side, Jim Crockett Promotions is enjoying some big gates themselves - and even running shows in Vince’s own backyard with some of Vince’s old talent.

David Crockett takes us day-by-day through February ‘85 with the help of Jim Crockett’s original handwritten notes on an all new edition of The Book!

2023-03-26 12:26:09 To just examine how much difference Dusty's booking made after he started booking JCP in June of 1984, here is the card for Charlotte, NC just a year prior (February 1984) to the great 2pm show the guys mentioned in the show(this is Dory Funk Jr's booking by the way): Angelo Mosca Sr. & NWA Mid Atlantic Heavyweight Champion Angelo Mosca Jr. defeated Ivan Koloff & Ernie Ladd Jay & Mark Youngblood defeated Jack & Jerry Brisco Tim Horner defeated Barry O Johnny Weaver defeated Jeff Sword Wahoo McDaniel defeated NWA US Champion Dick Slater via count-out Greg Valentine, Jimmy Valiant, & Dory Funk Jr. defeated Paul Jones & the Assassins....I don't know what this show drew, I couldn't find numbers, but I bet it drew around 5,000 - 5,500 folks for an evening show in the #2 market for JCP and it wasn't near what they drew in February 1985 at 2pm in the afternoon.

Another fantastic listen. Such an informative and interesting program. The numbers my good old Jersey Meadowlands venue drew were gigantic. Vince had to draw a bead of sweat.
