Unless I missed a key part of his argument, I have to respectfully disagree with Eric on whether talent should have input into creative. He doesn't think they should and I do. For starters, who wants the talent to get over more than the talent themselves? They also have countless of travel hours to do nothing but think about their craft. They should absolutely be filtered and altered to fit what's best for the angle and company by somebody with more experience and knowledge in that area. That doesn't mean the initial idea or even a large portion of it can't come from them. I'll also add Bruce himself has said that certain gimmicks didn't work because the talent didn't perform it the way it was intended by the creator. This is the worst possible example, but the Red Rooster. Bruce insists that wasn't a joke and could've gotten over had Terry Taylor pulled it off the way Vince had envisioned it inhis mind. William Regal himself that he could've gotten the man's man gimmick over had he been in the right frame of mind. Sometimes there's bad gimmicks and sometimes there's bad execution of the gimmick. A disconnect between the creator of the gimmick and the talent pulling it off can be a big reason for it failing. If the creative comes from the talent and they just get it tweaked by a professional, that doesn't happen. One way or another, there is literally no place for the company to go but up from here. Anything good that was left in Vince went the way of the dodo years ago. I think he's been that companies biggest hinderance ever since. That probably wasn't the case in terms of the money bring in. It's certainly been the case in terms of the quality of the product. /rant.

I think what he meant was full control over their character, similar to what AEW has. WWE has much more creative control over their characters and stories, this creates more cohesiveness with the actual storyline. Tony Khan has full creative control over their storylines from what I understand, but gives a lot of slack to the wrestlers when it comes to their characters. This can create a lot of disconnect between the actions/characteristics of a wrestler and the stories they are involved in. Just my two cents
