On this episode of Grilling JR, Jim and Conrad look back 33 years at Starrcade 1987: Chi-town Heat, which took place on Thanksgiving - November 26, 1987 from the UIC Pavilion in Chicago, IL. It was the first NWA event to be broadcast on PPV, and not without controversy, as the WWF would run its inaugural Survior Series PPV event head-to-head that same night. The main event would feature Ric Flair vs. Ron Garvin inside a steel cage for the NWA Championship. Plus, Dusty Rhodes vs. Lex Luger, Arn and Tully vs. The Road Warriors, and much more!

I love Jim but there are three things you can count on in every Grilling JR episode 1) He will plug his BBQ sauce (I’ve tried it and it is rather good so I’ll let this one slide) 2) He will compare whatever show they’re doing, no matter how far back, to current AEW 3) He’ll take multiple shots at WWE.

Full transparency, JR will never stop marketing his BBQ sauce, books, AEW, or any other project he's involved with. That is a big reason why his podcast exists. Just want to be honest with you and set expectations moving forward

Chi Town Heat is my FAVORITE Starrcade of all time!! Watching the crowd turn on Garvin and Flair becoming the five time champ is my favorite!
