Hey everyone,
As some of you may have noticed some of my older releases got deleted by mistake. I've been working on creating an online archive for one click downloads by month and will reupload them on a master post since posting older content one by one might make things confusing for some. Plus a lot of you have been requesting for one click downloads so I think this will make things easier for all of us.
I've been releasing content for almost 3 years now and released hundreds of pieces over time and learned so much since I first started so I've been thinking of revamping some older releases. I wanted to hear what you would like for me to take into consideration for the revamps and also what I should keep in mind when releasing content moving forward.
Most of them have upsides as well as downsides so it's important for me to know what should be a priority. ❤️
Option 1: + Lighter File Size - Lower Quality Textures
Most of my older releases have 4K textures and the rest are 2K HQ compatible, this results in higher file sizes.
Option 2: + Less .package files ? Merged Packages
I create multiple variants for all my content and I realize this results in hundreds of packages which can affect game loading times. I could create merged packages however they would need to be manually unmerged in Sims 4 Studio to export when rendering. I am not sure if this would be a concern.
Option 3: + Decluttered CAS - Less Variant Options
I try to give you all as many options as I can for each release but as I can see in my game that means they occupy a large portion of their CAS category. By less variants I mean only releasing right hand & shoulder variants and not left hand & shoulder if you would rather have 2 files than 4. I will still keep doing slider & non slider shoes as well as different styles.
Option 4: + Lower Poly Counts - Less Details
Poly counts determine the complexity of an item and most of my content is high poly due to how much detail I try to include. Higher poly counts might slow down games if too many are placed extensively. From what I understand this doesn't affect a lot of players with higher end computers and I haven't experienced this myself but I want to be mindful of your gaming experience.
Option 5: + Lighter File Size - Less Color Options
Alternatively to Option 1 I could release less swatches in each release for a lighter file size. I personally love having lots of options and I want to give lots of them to you too so I sometimes go overboard with color options for each release. If this is not something important for the majority of you I can include 10 to 20 colors instead of 20 to 40 and still keep textures HQ.
You can vote for multiple options if they resonate with you but please try to vote for what is most beneficial for you. If you are fully satisfied with how I currently release my content you can also vote to keep releasing as it is. Your opinions matter to me & I am open to all suggestions. Please feel free to comment down below if you have any other suggestions. Thank you so much for your support, I appreciate you all so much 🤗💖
Note: Original versions of all releases will be included in the archive so you can download them as they are. The revamped files will be separate.
