So I was gonna try rendering this next animation in Cycles (instead of Eevee like I have been for the entirety of this year) but I've ran into a bug that only lets me render using of my GPUs, if I try rendering on both it just spits errors at me. I've spent a trouble hours trying to fix it/find the cause/Google it but all I found were bug reports of people having the same problem and no fix. While my new 3090 is very powerful... it'd still take an estimated 50 hours to render this animation. I'd rather not go back to waiting that long (I was going to post a WIP today, but I spent my time doing that instead 🤷‍♀️) Maybe when Blender 3.0 gets farther along in development and gets more stable I'll try Cycles X again.

So instead I'm just gonna stick with Eevee. 1080p animations render ridiculously fast in Eevee with the 3090 (like 10 seconds per frame), and I also got infinitely better internet with a 4500% faster upload speed, so I could indeed render 4k videos now and upload them without it taking literal years.

But do people care about 4k videos? 🤔 They'd be 4k 60 FPS videos. I'd still make the 1080p versions though because 4k60 is pretty hard to run actually, my old PC couldn't handle them 🤪 It wouldn't really be much more effort for me, they'd take a bit longer to render in Blender/render in Resolve/upload but it wouldn't be too bad.

TL;DR Are you interested in 4k videos?

i am interested but at tre same time i personally am not set up to watch them so its doesn;t affect me one way or the other

I’d get them , but 1080 is perfectly fine, my old pc couldn’t run 4K either, I really can barely tell a difference either when I play theM side by side. It’s better for images for sure.

I don't have a 4k monitor so it's kinda moot for me ;D

Higher resolution means bigger file sizes, which means slower streaming and more time downloading. And usually the difference in terms of image sharpness isn't worth the tradeoff; Netflix insists on streaming everything possible in HD, and it degrades the experience. I don't notice any difference in the image, and when my connection's choppy, I'm constantly waiting for the stream to buffer.

Tbh anything 720 and up is fine. A lot of people say how much better it is and all that, but in truth I don't see much of a change and my pc can not only run 4k stuff with ease, but my monitor is my 50inch LG tv so I see EVERYTHING super detailed. Point being it's really no big whoop imo. Just makes the files bigger and have them take longer to DL if ya ask me.
