Greetings! I can't believe it's the 4th quarter of 2023 already and Halloween is just around the corner. As I've been quiet recently, I wanted to provide an update on TWO 3D printing projects I will be delivering to this Patreon this month.

The RGB Ghost Trap was the first project I released and it is one of my more popular 3D printable builds that people undertake. As I've designed other projects since, I've learned new things about model strategies and assembly concepts. With this in mind, I decided it was time to revisit the RGB Ghost Trap project with improvements and new features for Version 2 (V2). As a Ghostbusters fan - who doesn't need new traps in their armory?

Firstly, I wanted the V2 design to offer a better concept for a detachable trap cartridge. The original build does have the cartridge separate from the main body... BUT the assembly doesn't elegantly allow you to take the cartridge out easily. More recently, I developed a cartridge approach for my 'movie' trap. For the V2 RGB trap, I am adapting this approach.

Secondly, the new RGB trap cartridge is going to use the 'gear-based' mechanism for opening/closing the doors. I used this on my movie trap and it definitely saves space and simplifies the electronics concept for using a single servo to control both doors.

Thirdly, I wanted there to be a better way to access any electronic 'guts' that a builder may put in the rear handle assembly. In the original build, you'd have to do some significant disassembly to access the interior of this part. In the V2 build, you will be able to unscrew the top portion of the rear assembly and switch for easier access.

And finally.... I figured if I am revisiting this RGB trap model why not revisit my Arrma RTV project and give it some Real Ghostbusters cartoon trap flavor? I will soon be releasing a 'remix' of my RTV trap with the RGB trap design. I'm very excited for this to be the first build I will be making on my new 3D printer that hopefully arrives this weekend (more on that later!)
