Who remembers getting their first proton pack as a kid?

Maybe it was a cardboard box with some straps. Maybe it was a black backpack with some hot glued wires. Maybe you were lucky enough to get the old Kenner roleplay toy.

For my nephew's 5th birthday, I decided to take on building him his very first proton pack using 3D printing! He has been very interested in Ghostbusters - like my son was at that age. He loves Afterlife and the Playmobil toys. I wanted to create a build that was simple(r) in construction and also durable enough to hold up to some play. The files included here are roughly 50-60% scale from a full-size pack and likely suitable in size for youngsters ages 5-11.

The design of this Kid's pack is original although I 'borrowed' just a few parts from the open source 'Q-pack' notably the crank knob, booster frame ladder, and Clippard valve. They are scaled down here with modified hole sizes for attachment. I made note of this - where applicable - on the file names and instruction dashboard.

For the wand, I simply used a Hasbro Proton Blaster MOD, painted it black, and used my battery V-hook accessory to attach it. I also used my barrel tips and hose connector! My 'motherboard' solution is a DIY assembly of 1/8" hardboard, PVC, and webbing straps.

If you have a young one in your life, do them a solid and print them their own proton pack! They'll never forget it! :)

God rest her soul. My Mother surprised me with the pack trap and firehouse one year for Christmas. Was the best year of my life at that point.

Seems to be a problem with "Power Cell-Ion Arm-.stl", it's only 184 bytes so I don't think it exported correctly? All the other files load though, can't wait go to through them!

Actually I don't know if that file is even needed, seeing as the Ion Arm is part of "Power Cell-Base Shell-Shell.stl". So looks like I can ignore that file entirely?

I remember getting the Kenner pack for either Christmas or by birthday (memory is fuzzy). There were ~3 other kids in the neighborhood that were able to get them around the same time so we had a 'complete' team for some adventures. Simpler times :)
