I've been considering the creation of a Discord chat server for Ghostbusters Gear Patrons (and invited guests.) The idea would be to give subscribers the ability to interact with each other, share their builds, suggest ideas, and ask questions. You know - interactive community building stuff!

If I created this benefit for Patrons, would you use it? Would it be valuable to you to have more direct interaction with myself and other Patrons?

Maintaining a Discord community takes effort and I'm trying to gauge if it would be valuable to you all! Please vote and leave a comment if you have thoughts on this!

I would check it out every now and again. I have been modifying the PKE meter electronics to add sound and it would be nice to have a place to share that stuff. However, the facebook group 3D Printed Ghostbuster Props covers almost everything I can think of. That is where I found the Ghostbuster Gear stuff and I see people building prints from those files all the time there.

I'd look forward to actually talking with people besides just posting in various groups. I have years of 3D printing experience, and I still have questions. I just started on the RGB pack and already I've redesigned one of the parts to optimize for printing the way I wanted to do it. It would be nice to hear if people have modified other parts as well.

Yeah the Facebook group is great! I chose to leave Facebook entirely last year but I miss that group and I like to sport their swag. I think a Discord would be different in a few ways - notably it would be more ‘chat room’ style. Discord is closer to ‘Slack’ or ‘Teams’ than it is to Facebook or other social sites. Rooms (channels) are themed for different purposes (re: sharing builds, asking for help, etc). You can post content and have threaded discussions. Private messaging, voice/video streams are also available. It’d also be a smaller intimate group which may give a different vibe - I know that the FB group has quite the audience!
