As a follow up to the release of the Proton Blaster MOD Barrels, I have created a series of three variations for a removable 'host adapter' that can be used to attach to a split loom sized at 3/4" ID, 1" OD. After printing, these parts will plug on to the Proton Blaster MOD without the need for modifying the original toy!

I used 0.2mm layer height on a silk metallic PLA with 15% gyroid infill - these will look great printed in black if you are painting the toy to be "realistic".

The parts came out feeling really strong for this use case. To secure the hose attachment, I fed a zip tie through the two holes and tightened it to the split loom. This makes it easy to remove the loom later if needed. Of course, you could also glue the loom into the adapter as well.

Is the type of PLA super important to the print? I'm super new to all this 3d printing business lol

It depends what you are going for - I selected the color based on my personal preference. I usually use CC3D brand for the metallic look. But you could as easily select any number of blue plastics . Or you could select a white plastic if you intend to sand/paint the piece. For non-metallic PLA, I have had good luck with the Hatchbox brand.

Have you ever drilled a hole dead center through one of these to run wiring?
