Not the most exciting week when it comes to updates, but I'm making progress in all visual areas. I've spent the week posing and rendering both animations and stills, which shows when I'm looking at the numbers. My render folders show 584 story renders and 7,882 animated frames completed.

So, I guess it's time to give the answer to last weeks poll about which event in LoF was based on real-life experiences.

Being invited to a pop stars home for some weeks during a summer
179 people voted not true. Answer: True.

So in my early days of music production, I decided to send some of my demo songs to Sony in the hope of being 'discovered'. Of course, I didn't hear anything and forgot about the whole thing as I moved on to make music for games instead. About a year later they do eventually call me back and I end up being invited to their studio, where I'm also introduced to a very well-known singer from my country.

While I get over being completely star-struck by meeting this woman, we do end up working in the studio together on a new song based on one of my demos, and get along quite well. At the end of the day, it's quite clear that I would have to come back the next day, where she learns I intend to fly home for the evening and fly back the morning after, which spawns the question if I would like to stay at her place.

Long story short, one night become many more nights, including a weekend party with lots of other well-known people. And before you ask, no it was not romantically. But I can confirm that famous singers also fart, puke in the bushes when too drunk, and generally are like everyone else.

While not completely the same as the LoF version, it's still based on it. The song we worked on was used as a bonus track on her record for her Japanese launch but removed in later editions of the record. And that was probably my '15 minutes'.

Having your childhood friend and her female companion come stay at your place
2 people voted not true. Answer: Not true.

This is more or less AVN trope stuff. Although I tried making it less "cringy" by making one of the girls your childhood friend. Still, it's not related to any real-life experience.

The possibility of being released from the hospital the morning after a suicide attempt (factual claim)
43 people voted not true. Answer: True.

Definitely true, as I've seen it with my own eyes. On the first 'attempt' a hospital would probably be more inclined to hold back the person to evaluate, but the more attempts, the less inclined they are to do anything. Individual right is much stronger than what you would think. Saying "No, I definitely won't try that again" will get you out of most hospitals, even with daily attempts.

Being put on a national anti-terror watch list because of something you did

Having an anti-terror official/agent investigate you for said incident

Hooking up with said agent
187 people voted not true. Answer: True.

I'll confirm all of these with the same story.

A friend of mine had a passion for building and flying model planes. They were huge things with wingspans of 3 meters, and real mini combustion engines running on normal fuel. Now, my idiot friend is the kind of guy that has more heart than wits sometimes (like Chris) and he wants to use real airplane fuel for these mini engines, as it produces more power. Airplane fuel is dangerous stuff as it's very high octane and extremely flammable compared to normal gasoline. Though, at some point, this idiot friend gets his hands on 10 liters of the stuff which he stores in his garage with all his model planes.

Him buying these 10 liters of airplane fuel got him firmly planted on a "that's sus, anti-terror" (or someone to watch) list, which prompted my country's equivalent of a 'homeland agent' to visit him at his home to ask him about this fuel and why he had bought it. This agent is a woman no less, and a good-looking one too.

Now, my more-heart-than-brains friend doesn't quite understand the predicament he's in while he's being interviewed about this, and goes on explaining why he bought it and proceeds by saying something like "look, I'll show you". So they end up actually flying model airplanes together. Fast forward a few years, and they are married. Seems like the "would you like to go fly model airplanes with me" trick works better than the 'stamps collection' one.

Hooking up with a girl that tries you out as a potential partner for her and her female partner
18 people voted not true. Answer: Not true.

Never happened to me or anyone I know at least, therefore, hasn't inspired any of the events in LoF.

I know these examples used as inspiration for LoF aren't completely the same as the in-game equivalent, but then again, that wasn't the question. :)

Have a nice weekend, and stay safe out there.

Awesome stories, Especially the music one, Not so much the suicides, As I have been in a similar situation as the MC, I can see where the bulk of the LoF story comes from, Great job Drifty, Not looking forward to chapter 8, As it's the final chapter.

Holy f**k. My life feels boring now. :-D Just kidding. I've nearly done one of your "not true" stories. The one were one tries you out for the other. Problem was that both of them were regulars in my fav bar and over 15 to 20 years older than me. Was 22 Back then. While in hindsight it would have been an awesome experience, but their age was a huge turn off for me.

"Write what you know", but they often forget the next part of that. Either seek or keep yourself open to new experiences.

So, I worked for 20 years at one of the major companies that make those giant scale airplane build kits... and yeah, people go all sorts of nuts with them, its suddenly super believable lol

Im Gegensatz zur Naturwissenschaft, (vorsicht Humor) ist die menschliche Species dermaßen Durchgeknallt, das ich diesbezüglich alles glaube.
