Progress

Starting this week with the last of the render update. We're at 967 static renders and 4381 animated frames - totaling 1 minute and 43 seconds of 60fps animations.

When it comes to progress, there's still a lot of small things to do, but I'm right where I want to be at the moment.

  • I have 60% of a semi-huge scene to render and pose for
  • All the phone stuff (some nukes, phone clock, bios, etc.)
  • A few scenes where I expect to be replacing the music and adding more sound effects
  • A 21 second animation where unfortunately I will have to go in and manually correct some clipping on some of the 1400 frames.

But I should have it all ready and sent out to the testers by Sunday.

A word on estimated playtime vs branching

I did a relaxed playthrough and ended up on 60 minutes, going for one of the main routes - and that was without that last scene that is currently rendering. It might not seem like a whole lot, but all in all you will need more than one playthrough to see everything. There are more than 50 instances in Chapter 4, where what you see and experience is different based on your earlier choices going all the way to Chapter 1. Although there are only two playthroughs needed for Cece/Steph, you'll need a whole lot more if you want to see everything.

The example picture above displays just how the story might branch out depending on your choices, even if they are not your main love interest.

Next week there will be no Dev Diary due to the release of the first part of chapter 4. I still hope to see you all around somewhere then. And for those that want nothing to do with Steph going forward, I only got one thing to say - sometimes you just have to take a leap of faith. :)

Best wishes to you all.
