Anthony Mosher

Interesting comments in the discussion at the end as to how spot on you are. Akasaka is a male mangaka he’s known for “Kaguya-Sama: Love is War”, while the female illustrator of this collaboration (she also helps with the plot) is Mengo she worked on “Scum’s Wish”. The manga at this point has 125 chapters, Kaguya ended with 281, although Akasaka has said the ending is coming. It’s a weekly release although he’s slowed down, because he’s working on something else, but I imagine it’s because they want the anime to do well (since there’s a season 2 in production and probably more) so that manga readers don’t spoil the ending of the story too much (as someone who’s read up to the current chapter there’s a lot going on). Also, something you nailed is that Akasaka did an interview about how Ai wasn’t actually supposed to die in the beginning it was added in serialization as he talked to Mengo, because her character was too hard to continue to write and she was becoming too popular overshadowing Aqua and Ruby who they wanted to be the main focus of the story. They had ideas of them being a family in the industry together, but it was just too hard to make it work that Aqua and Ruby would be the focus with Ai being present. Akasaka is very fond of Kana, Mengo gets teased about Akane being like her in real life…and Akasaka added Mem-Cho as an idol member because he soon realized how much he really enjoys drawing her character. Hope this gives you a little perspective into the story a bit more and hope that you tune into season 2! If it’s the same production timeline as Kaguya was which was just as popular if not a bit less popular than Oshi no Ko currently is it should be around 10 months so probably May. It’ll be interesting to see how it comes out though…episode 1 was 10 chapters and the entire season was 40 if they do the same thing season 2 should be 41-80 or so.
