For Anthony, all of the flashbacks are incredibly important to the story, all of the flashbacks have a reason and I'll leave it at that.

Seems you hadn't realized it, but the white coats are exclusive captains' attire, so Ishida did encounter another captain.

I feel like it's important to know that as far as anime goes, Bleach is a pretty slow burn in terms of plot sometimes. Often things that can seem like a pointless sidetrack are actually setting up really vital information that will come back in a big way later on.

Well... with the exception of First Division lieutenant Sasakibe who generally wears some form of a white coat... albeit he still wears the lieutenant badge and it doesn't have the squad number on the back.

One last thing i want to say about Bleach. There are alot of themes around family in Bleach. Ichigo's family, he only got into this adventure trying to save his sisters. Ishida and his grandfather, and most of Soul Society appears to be made up of found family. Renji and Rukia, Kenpachi and Yachiru, and now in this latest flashback, you see the connection between Hinamori and Toshiro, and the connection between Hinamori, Kira,and Renji, who all went on to become lieutenants. Seeing the background will be important when you see how these connections will be tested. Don't underestimate how deep Bleach can get! 😂
