To be totally honest. I have more sympathy for the Eldians that live in Marley than the Eldians on the Island. Not that I don't feel for the Islanders, but characters like Reiner, Galliard, Bertolt, Annie, Marcel, Pieck and the others as well. Since most of them are brainwashed and have been since childhood, not knowing any better. And those who did know something was off, I assume could have been forced to comply due to their families being at risk of being turned into Titans and shipped off.
