Just to give you a sense of scale, the eye-catch from the first episode gives the radii of the three walls as 250, 380, and 480km. A circle of 480km has an area of ~724,000km^2. This is, coincidentally, pretty much exactly the size of Texas (1.04x). After losing the outer most wall, humanity's area has been reduced to about ~454,000km^2, which is, again, coincidentally, pretty much exactly the size of California (1.07x).

Can't wait to watch your reactions to this. But before I watch, I have to warn you...Attack on Titan is a huge mystery-driven story. And (maybe because it's so popular and so mystery driven) many people will drop spoilers just to spite you. You'll receive more spoilers for this anime than for any show. It will take only two words just to absolutely spoil the biggest secrets (it's happened to me). I'd suggest not readying ANY youtube comments and limiting to reading comments only on patreon exclusive AoT posts (even that's not exactly safe). People will even go to non-AoT related youtube videos and comment spoils. Don't even think about searching google images or youtube videos for AoT because you'll be spoiled by the thumbnails. There is one good thing about spoilers...you won't be able to guess which ones are real if some people post fake spoilers. But best to avoid any spoilers. I can't emphasize enough how many people get spoiled by youtube comments and how you can just read two words and be spoiled.

This show is so insanely messed up and dark😅. It's as you both said at the end, sending the huge chunk of people out there was basically a culling. One helpful tip I encourage for this show is watch it with the intention of solving a mystery. Maybe even take notes lol🤷‍♀️. But in all honesty though this show is very well known for leaving all sorts of clues and details along the way, it has a very cryptic but detail oriented style of storytelling.
