Charles girlfriend was in the original show and they played a big part in stopping Jean being the Phoniex , they had 2 arcs of the Phoniex stuff across the 5 season run. & Forge while not being on the X-men was part of a government group called X Force & on his team was Scott’s brother named Havoc but Scott still doesn’t know that his brother was part of Forge’s team. His family stuff was good in that too explaining more about his dad & such. & yea Nightcrawler & Rogue are step siblings Mystique adopted Rogue after she ran away from her dad, & used to commit crimes till she forced her to absorb Captain Marvels powers which is why she can fly and has super strength
