By illustrating the artist have to think about the idea, pose and finally start to develop it. Just to check if the drawing will have the right sense is adviced to paint a solid color creating the silhouette which will help to see graphically errors mainly with the extremities of the char and if the pose works for good.

In sample I we can see the idea is good, the pose is in mind and sketch is there, for a simple view it could work but there are some mistakes that the silhouette is warning us like issues with arms and head of the char and they get lost in the body.

In sample II we can see how the pose works giving more dynamism to the drawing and silhouette is telling us how the impact is bigger for the general idea and graphically looks very good since extremities have their right spot.

Finally I advice to use this tip by thinking to apply it to fix common errors with right positioning of arms, feet, tails, wings and heads.
