This series is getting POWERFUL.  I can already tell this is going to hit the feels in future episodes.  Already loving the twists and turns we've gotten just at the beginning!  I feel like things are really going to start taking off after this point!

(6:00): I think your viewpoint is pretty typical of a normal person (so don't take this next part as a criticism, your viewpoint is accurate for the information you know). But it has 3 critical flaws. 1. you lack the information that is driving Rem's actions. I can't really say much without spoiling, but with the knowledge that Rem has, her conclusion is very reasonable. 2. your sense of morality is too biased towards the real world. The existence of magic is a real game changer for things like this, especially since you (the viewer) and Subaru know almost nothing about the limits of magic are. Lets just say that there are some very devious ways to weaponize magic. 3. Rem didn't kill Subaru here (I should be ok to mention this since you have watched up to Episode 11) (Ram did). You can tell because Rem only uses Water magic, and Ram uses Wind magic, and Subaru's throat was slit via a wind blade. Hence the line that Rem says at the end, "My sister is too kind", since she killed Subaru rather then let him continue to get tortured. (6:50): You're gonna love her. I've seen many people go down this exact route. (14:15): It's forbidden because people aren't supposed to go into it and read the books. Ram I think mentioned earlier that it contains lots of knowledge that Roswaal had acquired, and that it wasn't suitable to be shared. (15:00): Something to note, Subaru just learned to read basic fairy tales like 2 weeks ago, so I imagine it's uhh not going so well reading books that are probably pretty technical. Probably quite the step up from children's fairy tales. (23:30): A very good point and one that many viewers tend to forget. It's not a sure bet that Subaru will come back (or to when he'll come back). The viewer of course can meta game that he'll come back, but Subaru doesn't have that option available to him. A 4 lives and you're out sort of deal would fit just as nicely. Also I think that people are much more tolerant of risk when they don't personally have anything at stake. So I think it's also quite easy for the viewer to be ok with say a 99% chance that he'll respawn, despite that leaving a 1/100 chance that he just dies. Anyways, I'm glad that you've kept that in mind, some people think that Subaru should start resetting like a speedrunner, with no thought given to the psychological effect that would have on Subaru. (24:45): This song btw is called STRAIGHT BET. A fitting title since Subaru is betting his life that he'll get another chance to fix things. (24:50): I'm not 100% sure, but I think the easiest path that Subaru is thinking of is to not confront the fact that Rem and Ram hate him and death is preferable to him rather then being outcast. (29:50): For reference, when you say to skip ahead, you should edit in a time for when people should skip ahead. Otherwise if I wanted to skip it, then I wouldn't know when it would be safe to start listening again. Not an issue for me, since I've seen demon slayer, but just something to think about. This is one of my favorite episodes to watch reactors react to, since it's the first episode where you get a peek at what Re:Zero has to offer. This episode, unlike the previous episode, is the first real time where the viewer really feels like they're in the same shoes as Subaru, and it's really unclear what's going on, or what Subaru needs to do differently to succeed. It's the first time we really see some trademark Re:Zero despair. It's also the first time we really get Subaru's inner monologue and get to really explore what's going through Subaru's head. Arc 1 was pretty simple on the surface, and the ways forward were pretty clear (get the insignia and don't let Elsa kill everyone), but in this arc, we don't know who is the villain, the people we thought were the villain can also be the victim. It's like you mentioned, the characters and plot are far more complex then they first appeared on the surface. I'm looking forward to the rest of your reactions.
