One of the minor issues (heh) with doing a pack of irregularly-shaped maps like this is that they don't fit nicely into a single splash image. But I'm sure noone mine-s having three of them.

Last week's monthly map poll turned out surprisingly heavily in favor of a pack of mine maps. There's like, dozens and dozens of tileset maps out there, so I didn't want to just make basic "end, corner, turn, straight, T-crossing" tiles - my lighting and shadowing style makes it hard to make reliably tiling images anyways. So I decided to go for various situations and themes that I figured a fight might break out in. This ranged from the water-gates of an underground fortress or dungeon, to a classic bridge-across-the-abyss. Most of these come with expeditionary variants, with high-tech equipment and devices strewn across the surface, left by whatever group of explorers first passed through these eerie caverns.

  • The Supporter-tier maps include a dead-end unfinished tunnel with a continuous mining machine set up to tear at the walls (with an edit for dead overhead lights and red warning lights, if you're only arriving after something terrible happened), an AKIRA-inspired diagonal elevator to defend from god-knows-what before it can be powered up, a more traditional winding path down into the abyss for the less mechanically-inclined, a gigantic bridge across an underground ravine, an expeditionary site set up outside the gates of the ruins, and the same ruins but stripped of sci-fi equipment and replaced with bright brazier lights for any resident guards - with green and blue water versions. That's a mouthful!
  • The Enthusiast-tier maps include frozen versions of most of the above, with ice beneath the party's feet and snow scattered across the equipment where applicable, as well as an exclusive expeditionary version of the bridge, with high-powered floodlights lighting it up from both sides. This version also has a frozen variant.

I also made some minor changes to how I export line-art maps. They have ambient occlusion and some dark shading now. I'm reasonably certain that if they're used at all, it's for black-and-white low-ink printing, so I wanted to make them look nicer for that purpose. Let me know if it's a problem.

Map size gets complicated in a hurry. The Dead-End Drill, Underfortress Gates, Malfunction, Expedition, and Frozen Expedition maps are all 10 tiles wide and 14 tiles tall. The AKIRA Elevator maps and associated abyss maps are 20 tiles wide and 13 tiles tall. Finally, the Bridge variants are all 10 tiles wide and 20 tiles tall. All maps are, as usual, at a size of 100x100 pixels per tile.

If you've got any questions, don't hesitate to ask, as usual! If you're new, I'd appreciate it if you subscribed! I'm releasing two of the maps from this pack for free, attached above - the Expedition and the basic Bridge. Finally, since the end of the month won't come until Saturday and I'm not going to delay the launch date until then, this post doesn't carry any charge - I scheduled a separate post to go up on Saturday to ensure that noone's overcharged for July. Have a good week!
