Old Roadside Shrine (22x20) (Patreon)
Content
I've had this picture in my head, of a small cliff overlooking a river, for some time now. Specifically, because there's a place very similar to this near my home, but there's no river, and I've thought for a while that it'd be a really nice place to be were it not for that. There's also no shrine nearby, too, which is a pity. But fortunately, being an artist, I can take artistic liberties!
- The Supporter-tier variants include the shrine entrance during either the day or night, plus a cherry blossom grove set, for those particularly interested in genre cliches. I think it'd be pretty easy to pretend that the torii is actually a manor's gates, or perhaps an abandoned building's walled entrance - the strict orthographic projection may be a bother when it comes to certain stuff, but ambiguity lends itself to flexibility!
- The Enthusiast-tier variants include a small camp of either hostile or friendly disposition - this map is True Neutral, so it may swing either way. You also get empty, camp-less plains, either paved with asphalt or not! It brings to mind the idea of having some mafia goons try to bury a body, unaware that they're being watched by a party ready to spring.
The free version is actually 100x100ppi this time, like the normal maps. I felt that maybe it was silly to downsize them; I'm not really sure why I started doing that. The map size is 22 tiles wide by 20 tiles tall.
Thanks again for all of your support! Next week will be the monthly map poll. I'll also add, related to the poll I posted last Sunday - I don't think I'll be making any drastic changes to my output, other than maybe focusing more on maps that I can make variants appropriate for several genres for. Compare the camp variant to the modern forest shrine variant, for example. Thanks for everyone's input.
And, one final note: noone's being charged immediately for this map! I'm retiring the Dutchman tier and have published a new Benefactor tier. In order to give people time to switch, I scheduled a post to launch on Friday that will carry the charge with it. Noone should notice anything different from usual as a result of this - this is just a note in case anyone's curious. Have a good week!
