Survey Results! Future! (Patreon)

Thank you to all of you who participated in the survey! We had over 40% participation which was great (at least in terms of sample size). I spent a couple of days running some tests with the data that I gathered and read everything you told me. I will not present all the results because it would be a long report. I noticed there were complaints and preferences that were not being entirely met. For that reason, I am introducing upgrades for our Patreon community with the purpose of addressing your complaints and preferences:

• Polls will appear in a randomly generated fashion using an algorithm that considers the preferences you have input into the past survey.
• Poll size will tend to be 25 by using an evolving tolerance function. The function will become more aggressive as the size increases and selects less popular options to be temporarily removed.
• There is a 25% chance of getting an Extra Poll each month which could be a riffle for a less popular character, could be Regular poll, Exclusive, it depends.

The algorithm that I am using essentially just tells me what I should do each month:

• Primary Poll: Since Cartoon and Video Games categories were the most popular categories (by quite a margin), they each have a 50% chance of appearing each month, pretty much like what we have been doing. It’s basically like a coin toss.
• Secondary Polls: Includes the rest of the categories (~15% chance of appearing) and the Exclusive category (~30% chance of appearing). Pretty much like a pair of dices with two sides being Exclusive and no repeated values allowed.
• Deluxe Poll: Pretty much a ball, a one-card deck of cards, a one-sided coin, a one-sided dice (good luck visualizing those). It's never gonna change, always gonna appear.
• Extra Poll: If there is no Exclusive poll on a particular month, there is a 50% chance of having an Extra Poll, so a conditioned coin toss. I think the riffle would be nice for those who have suggested this option. (I can't write riffle with an 'a' cause Patreon goes insane).

About the poll size: The most common complaint that you made was about the size of the polls. I found it to be imperative to implement a strategy that would deal with this problem. It does not mean that the polls will go back to 25 options next month, but there will exist a pressure to get those numbers down. The selection process works in two parts:

· Less popular options are calculated by averaging normalized votes

· Number of characters to be temporarily removed is decided by a simple exponential function that demands exponentially more sacrifices past 25 options. XD

Curiosities:

• No, there is no way of grouping categories to appear each month that would yield any benefit. Positive correlations are too indistinct, meaning you guys kind of like everything on average.
• Not-so-Human histogram is the only one exhibiting - what could be explained as – the presence of 2-3 groups with divergent perspectives. One of those, without a doubt, is a minority (~5%) that is totally an outlier, meaning, they hate that category, but Not-so-Human has still a pretty strong support from the rest of the sample (95%). I bet you didn't expect I would check the histogram didya? JK I appreciate your support and tolerance even if you don't like that category. I've noticed you. Thanks
