Hello my fantastic Patrons

I finished the cover of my next book, at laaast :))) I HATE doing cover images!!! I never attended illustration classes or anything like that, so I have to do everything instinctual, which gives me a lot of pression! And a cover image is so important for a book!!! But I did it, now I can breath :) until next one !!!

I'm going to show you the full process.

here goes the rough sketch. It's the part where you take all the decisions: what to show, who does what, where ... you have to resume the book's mood in one image, make promises, light up curiosity ... and be coherent with previeus covers if the book is in a collection.

Here isvolume 2 of my new comic series "Les Soeurs Grémillet". So I wanted to keep the same structure of volume 1`s cover.

The themes are love letters, summer, an abandoned church and a ghost! (yes it's a nice mysterious story!)

In this sketches you can see how I found the right composition and mood.

I already had a clear idea abour the coloring (warm colors in the upper part, cold colors in the main image). here is just a "rough coloring", like a rimander for the devinitive coloring that I will show you later.

In the next post I will show you how I got the the final image, and the coloring steps.

Of course, my co-writer's suggestions (Giovanni Di Gregorio) and my publisher's comments have been very important! It's very difficult to be objective about your own work, an external look is always a good help.

Hop, see you next soon!

A.
