I did this Hay Lin image for my last W.I.T.C.H.tober. Hay Lin is one of my favourite characters ever, her element is AIR. I wanted to draw her flying in a funny still elegant way, like she's half-controlling her flight but having fun at the same time!
I started looking for the pose, through little sketches on my sketchbook. I underlined the line of action for you to see.
I started from the head, putting it in the correct perspective. Then I looked for the line of action.
I put the torax volume, then the chest volume (I use "potatoes" more then "boxes" for ... I like it :)
Then I add arms and legs. I underlined the volume for you. "Feeling" the volume is important. Note that one arm/leg follows the line of action, the other one creates a contradiction.
I finish with the volumes of the face elements. Hair and wings follow and continue the line of action in order to add elegance and movement.
Hop it's done :) I hope you enjoyed this little trip in my process. hasta la proxima!
