Media Recommendations - May 2020 (Patreon)

I hope  everyone is staying safe and healthy while the virus continues to wreck havoc on the world. While you're quarantined, consider checking out these pieces of media:

TV Show - I Am Not Okay With This

This show was a real treat. It's about an angsty teenaged girl discovering that she has superpowers. She discovers them through her emotions, and has to learn to control her emotions over time in order to avoid hurting people she cares about; while also continuing to keep up with her academics and social life in the midst of all of this. The death of her dad has made it very difficult to control her emotions and often lashes out. 

She has a crush on her best friend (who is a girl so the show is also GAY AS HELL!!!!) Throughout the show, however, it feels as though somebody or something is watching her.

Video Game - XCOM Chimera Squad

A lot of people may have been suspect about this game at first, considering its overall smaller scale and budget, but I think the game is fantastic. It's a much more digestible version of XCOM but with still plenty of things to do. There's a lot of really cool unit variety and mechanics. Speaking of mechanics, one of the big selling points of this game is the breaching mechanic and it is FANTASTIC. When you start a section of a mission, you can breach into the level from multiple different angles. Some angles have bonuses and some have defects. It's really fun to strategize your entrance and decide which units should take what breach, or in what order they should breach. It's more XCOM goodness.
