This is a short post, almost like a tweet. Just showing a concept-art pic I just finished, and more will come later!

So, lately I've been sketching and planning objects for the game, items, technology, interiors and exteriors... There is a lot of things design to fill the world with, and I'm taking all the shortcuts and simplifications I could think of. The tabletop prototype I talked about before is helping me a lot to make a choice between what sort of objects should be done first.

I put some special attention to the books of my bio-fantasy world (how do you like this term btw?). Books are excellent for this, as its a simple technology example, they commonly found everywhere, and player needs to interact with them a lot to read stuff to learn about the world! I'll just have to make sure there is enough stuff to read, but hey, hatchling steps...

I like this idea. I think the melding of reproductive processes with technology is a strange and unique concept, but I like how it is shaping up so far. It also makes sense to me as well. We already have the phrase "genetic information", and using that to transfer/imprint information from (or also into?) books/tomes (or other items potentially) is clever. Additionally, bio-fantasy in general is a great term, and i'm going to help spread it when i refer to sci-fi with 'bioships', or organic computers. I don't know what the far-future plans for this concept are, but I can see these scrolls and books used to maybe transfer my character's explored map/worlds info to another player or NPC, or if I have any blueprints for custom buildings, armor, or character creation 'codes', etc. Minecraft has a mod where you can write in books, and you can also give these books to players. They can contain codes to locked chests, GPS coordinates to locations, or I could write a fanfic about kobolds and pass it on like an organic Japanese doujinshi. If players have the ability to 'write' to these books, I can see it being managed with a simple minigame to improve 'quality' of the work: Maybe require that my character has to concentrate on creating the book properly by keeping a virtual needle in a virtual dial (think a pressure gauge) * If the player does nothing, then the dial would be out of the correct range, and the data transferred would be 'low quality'. * If the player puts in minimum effort (so for players who are more about experiencing the game/world, but not here for all of the intense gameplay (basically, people here for the 'story', or to roleplay), the data transfers with a standard, usable quality. * If the player hits a specific mark on the gauge (maybe the sweetspot moves around, or is small and hard to hit), the data is transferred with greater quality. * Or if there are no plans for any books to have any form of 'quality of data' stat, then maybe this can just affect the speed of 'writing' the book. That way there is no loss of gameplay value for declining to 'play', and those who play the minigame benefit from faster experience. Those are my thoughts on this, and i love reading your periodic updates. These short-and-sweet updates are also nice, and if keeping the format shorter helps you give us a little something per month, and is low stress for you, im here for it.
