I think it's worth mentioning, not to excuse anyone, but most people weren't very educated on the experiences of trans people at that time and the way it was being presented to us was this really ethereal nonsense from out of touch academic types who weren't even trans. I remember watching that bill nye show and not getting past the first episode because I hated it so much.

I felt like during the 2016-2018 era I was going down the pipeline of edgelord racist conservative but gradually due to knowing people of other view points I came out of it. But I also feel like Chris was also the reason I came out of it as I found myself sharing a lot of his political viewpoints and I sticked with his content. When he started shifting away from that sphere of the internet so did I. So if anything Chris had a positive effect on me rather than a negative.

They seemed to have been confused about things like the difference between gender and sex. I do think Derek said that he originally thought they were the same thing. He got educated on that and admitted his previous opinion was wrong. To me it doesn't read like them claiming that they haven't changed certain opinions. They seem to have been saying that their fundimental values haven't changed. I think their opnions have evolved to be more in line with their fundemantal values. I would call it growth. But I don't think apologizing for opinions you've is a necassary part of the growing process. I would apologize to people I know but to rando's on the internet, hell no!

To clarify, the reason I compared game remakes and remasters to George Lucas and Steven Spielberg fucking with their films is because they both are approached with the same goal. To "enhance" and modernise classics when, whether they stand the test of time or not, are purely pieces of art crafted with whatever means necessary for the time. On top of that, just like the Star Wars films, many of those games are left unplayable through official means and dedicated fans have to scramble in order to restore them. In a way it's a corporate take on classic art that it's simply not good any more and needs to keep up with what's new. TL;DR It's simply the idea that taking art and modernising it with current hardware and sensibilities improves it.
