I don't share the same experience as most people as I do enjoy these games including Elden Ring but I don't get a massive dopamine rush from beating a boss. I do kinda prefer the exploration. But that does include encountering new enemies and learning their behaviours and sometimes getting screwed over by rare enemy behaviour. Discovering new bosses,...

2024-07-15 18:07:15 Souls games have always been hard because the developer wants players to learn how to play them as you go along, which is why souls vets tend to find the DLC fairly easy and the new guys complain about difficulty. If you don’t wanna engage with that then you probably don’t like their games, but if you enjoy it and it’s still too hard, there’s been an ingame solution to that since demon souls. Co-op. Summon two buddies to help you through a dungeon and kill a boss and the game gets way easier. That’s the “Miyazaki vision” all the fanboys get hard over. These games have always had ways to make them easier and I feel like the easy mode discussion just comes from people that aren’t willing to engage with the systems already in the series, or are just bitter that their power fantasy didn’t get fulfilled because their cool knight got turned into a roadside attraction one too many times.
