Recently I've begun working to make a full story, start to finish, in one month.

But it's been brought to my attention that some patrons would rather have fragment stories with the first place winner getting more pages and the 2nd place winner getting two or three pages.

So, I'm wondering what's preferable?

Lots of fragmented stories (That might be finished if they're voted on for consecutive months.)

Or Single stories that start and end the same month.

Single: (Winner takes all)

-Pros:Finishes the tail. Clears that idea away so others can be voted on.

-Cons:Only One story gets worked on a month if it is to have halfway decent buildup, tension, and release.

First, 2nd, and sometimes 3rd(Divided pages)

-Pros: Lots of ideas get new content every month. Variety in one month

-Cons:New ideas can make old projects incomplete just like the Single. No ideas get finished timely.

Or is there another way?

As it is now, I'm doing more than twice as much as I proposed. I can't do more pages without being late on bills.

Definitely fragments. I like variety and feel less bad about only having one vote.

I do like the idea of getting an entire story done, maybe you could do Single: (Winner takes all) for a while, say 3 months and then have another look at how it's going. The only other way I could see it being fair is to do Winner takes 66% (and is locked in until completion) and 2nd gets 34% and goes up for re-vote with next (monthly) nominations round.

BloodFX

I think after a certain number of pages the story should just get finished, look at all we have unfinished: Syx & Strider, Jack & Arcee, Rogue & Shaw, Raven & Beastie, see what i mean and i for one would love to see these finished, Syx & Strider and Raven & Beastie are almost done, apparently they just haven't been voted on. Don't get me wrong i love the variety but id' like to see what's out there finished before we pile more on! That my opinion.

simplemangafan

I think fragments might be the way to go, allows for new stuff, and the possibility of voting on older things. I'd like to see some of the older comics get finished as well.

bootydoc

I'd like to see older comics finished as well, but that's not what's winning the vote these days... T_T

bootydoc

winner 66% means that the comic is unfinished at the end of the month. This is a pretty tough situation for me.

ZekeStaright

I love reading a story start to finish, but getting different flavors each week is good too o(>3<)o I dunno, either is fine with me, just reading your stuff is amazing I would say take a month or two to finish all the old stories that need finishing & start fresh with whichever of these ideas is more popular

ZBL

I prefer having a story from beginning to end. I'm anxiously awaiting more BB/Rae

Chris Scott

I'd say single, since then a complete piece gets done. I'm fine with that, as there are prolly enough fragments as is.

RabiesTL

I think a single story work better.

ZeroV60

I'd sooner single, completed stories. That way it's simple and more organized rather than piling on a bunch of fragmented comics.

RPX

I like both options. Why not mix them. Hold a vote for only already existing thing idea's until all idea's are clear. Then open it up to new stuff. This way there is no back log.

CharmedKameleon

I would very much like to continue the "Winner Takes All" each month. If it continues the way it is (1st place = 4 pages, 2nd place = 2 pages), we'll never see any specific story get done. It took approximately 10 months for "Not WarNered" to be completed. To the point where I had to go back and re-read what happened beforehand. Also, to keep going this way would be a waste of a tier, in my opinion. The $20 tier is so that people can get .pdf's of the entire comic when it's finished. Why bother when, with the current process, it takes [nearly] a year for one to be fully completed?

Daedrius Storm

I personally enjoy seeing comics completed in the current fashion: one winner, one completed story. The other incomplete stories will eventually be completed when they get voted on, so it's just a matter of time.

awr74

How about this, first set a number of pages for stories say no more than 8, hold a vote and the winner gets made in its entirety but over two months 6 pages the first 2 the second, the second place gets 2 pages the first month then once the previous winner is done the second place winner gets finished (6 the second month) the vote for the second month would be for the next 2 pages and so on. And just to keep ideas going if you submit a winning idea maybe not submit an idea again for say a year so everyone feels they have a shot at thier ideas.

Andy M

Maybe a single story with stand apart artwork (non-story, just some great sexy drawings)?

I prefer single stories that start and end in the same month. I like closure. lol

MaveriKat

Personally? I am torn. Both options have their pro's and con's. While I can see the problem with getting older stories finished, there is a variety issue that came come to the fray. With single stories, you also run a risk of people popping in once a month and just suggesting an idea out of the blue which gets all the attention while others will try month after month after month. That can be depressing. Still, in the end, it's your Patreon, Booty Doc. You get the final say.

Scratch

Unless they never get voted on because each month their are 10 new ideas added.

Scratch

I like seeing stories finished. And you have some awesome ones started that are still waiting. Perhaps every couple months only have the fragmented stories up for voting so that they can get their completion.

Winner take all.

Shintoshi

Single (Winner takes all)

LAG76

I want to see stories get finished. So I'd say winner take all. You're never going to make everyone happy.

Blackrain

Yes I say winner take all, I like reading finished stories too.

Single completed stories each month, I dig this. And I agree with Lag76, you can never please everyone, but I think with this set up the potential for the greatest amount of satisfaction is pretty high. I'd go with Single: Winner Takes All.

Anonymous

Same here! That story is hot AF! It'll come around again eventually.

MaveriKat

Actually, I think this is a good idea for Booty Doc to do at some point. So many unfinished stories... it's a chance to finish without needing to spend a whole month on 6-to-8 pages. Take a couple of winners and they get their last few pages needed in one go.

George Humleker Jr.

I'm honestly torn like some of us here, both options have their pros and cons and it really makes it hard to decide. In the end I'm all for completed stories so the single story option sounds good. The one thing I'd suggest though is when someone's story ideas wins the lottery for the month. Next month they have to abstain from nominating, but can second and vote for other ideas until the next month.

Nordak

Have you thought about possibly limiting the amount of topics that can be nominated each month for the vote?

Excel Sior

I think this actually might be for the best. Could always allow for sequels after a few months or something, to give other ideas a chance. Having one story take so long for a climax has proven a bit difficult so far it seems.

Kei Montague

Of course both have their ups and downs. But here's how I see things: If you do several stories at a time, some can stay unfinished for quite a while, if forever. If someone really latched onto a story, but it stayed unfinished, they'd always feel a lingering feeling of disappointment, however slight. Compare it to the other idea. If you focused on one story at a time, and someone really latched onto one of them, they would be promised that the story would come to fruition, which would lead more reliably to a more-encompassing satisfaction among the readers. Again, you do what you think suits your work best, but I'm diggin' the idea of one story at a time, a bit more. I hope I didn't come across as anything but supportive. Keep up the amazing work.

I'm all for having one full story worked on each ballot, but I think the backlog of unfinished comics does need to be addressed. How about this: Maybe put new topics on temporary hold for one month and hold a ballot ONLY for unfinished comics using the "Divided Pages" method, so the winner and runner-up come closer to being completed. Then the next month, alternate to the "Winner Takes All" method and put unfinished comics on temp hold. This way everyone wins (eventually). Unfinished Comics get updates and New Content gets created regularly. :)

Daedrius Storm

Wow, I really like this idea. Alternating Ballots. Everybody gets something. This is something I could get behind.

bootydoc

I have, but which topics get limited? I'm sure no one would appreciate it if *there's* is the topic that gets denied. First come, first served is more like fast server, first served.

bootydoc

It's a connudrum. I'm still reading through to find a good solution. (Best solution is subjective opinion here.)

bootydoc

All right, hows this... Next month, I will start alternating between incomplete story voting and nominated story voting... at least until the old stories are all cleared up. After all the old stories are complete the slate will be clean... this means I'll have to take a hit on new patron participation for a while, but it will be worth it to have more finished stories.

Daedrius Storm

I'm down with that, Sir. We skip the nomination portion for the Unfinished Comics ballot and just fill it out with everything not complete. Would it be "Winner Gets Completed" or "Winner Gets X Number of Pages"? Either way, I think this works out best in the long run for everyone.

Anonymous

yes i see what you mean this is a tough decision to make.

Anonymous

What if we have the voting system changed to the First 2nd and 3rd (divided pages) until ALL UNFINISHED COMICS are completed and then once every open comic is finished we switch to the Single: (Winner takes all) system?

RyuWyldefire

I think winner takes all is the way to go, that way we get completed stories. Sure there isn't as much variety a month but at least we don't get left hanging.

Anonymous

I think one story a month is best
