So, I've been fiddling around with the twine engine for a bit, trying to expand on the demo I made for the Zelda fmg game.

And I have realized that I have very little knowledge on how to build the kind of game I want in Twine.

However, having already built games like OPAS, I have this knowledge in Renpy. So it could, theoretically, be quicker there.

Now there would be some issues. One, I'd probably have the narration kept in, so it'd be a third person sort of thing. Which isn't very common in renpy.

The much bigger issue would be getting funds for backgrounds. I'd have to have them made for each location. that's given I don't use any CGs. It'd be a hell of a lot more pricey then if it was in Twine.

I could learn how to do it in Twine. It is possible given other sim games like FMG life sim. I'd just have to look into tutorials. Of which I have found none so far...

So, felt I should see what you think. Please please please leave any thoughts you have in the comments. especially if you actually know twine enough to help me. (might honestly try and hire a twine programmer so I can focus on the writing purely.)

Till next time. Recently got a new artist for OPAS so I may post a test work they did for me here soon. Keep an eye out!

UPDATE!

Okay a few hours later and it's pretty clear you guys want this done in renpy. Though, I do still want to wait a few updates before I look into getting an artist. I feel one of the major problems has been having so many artists on at once for different projects. So I think if I did do it in renpy. I'd use placeholders for a good while. At least until a fair bulk of the game is done.

If this is something that changes your vote, please make the change.

I don't know where you stand on this, but AI art could be used as place holders for the background frames.

Mr. Nickname

Im not for AI. at least in for profit things like games. I feel I'll probably use the sketches I usually give to artists for them. and leave sprites as the default one that renpy gives if it can't find one. or something I dont know. I know AI may be the easy way to manage place holders, but I dont want to do that.
