Toy Story 5 should be Woody's 1st day in Andy's room or how Andy got Woody and what happened to Andy Dad

Shockzz1234

I don't think this movie is as good as any of the first 3 ones, but it's still solid. Like if the others ones are all 10 or 9 out of 10s, this one's like a 7 or a 7.5 imo.

This film works as a standalone movie, but not as a Toy Story movie. It has themes that contradicts themes from the others.

My wife and i made the mistake of taking our 3yr old son to see this in the outdoor theater back when it came out. Forky’s coming to life traumatized him, took him over a year to get over it. Poor child was scared of his own shadow after that

A. Saffari

I disagree. The themes of old/new love, transitioning into a new role, and learning to let go is a natural progression from the themes of the previous movie.

I don’t know have a problem with that. It was portrayed beautifully in TS 3 with Andy growing up and letting his toys go to be loved by another. TS 4 theme of being more than what’s expected of you doesn’t in a Toy Story movie because of the fact that there well…… toys. It been shown time and time again throughout the movies that making a kid happy is the exact purpose of a toy; the most important thing in their life. This is what Woody tries to explain to Buzz (especially when he finds out he’s not a space ranger and got depressed); that being Andy’s loved toy is far more fulfilling. But now in 4, Woody contradicts himself by choosing to be a lost toy because Bonnie was showing little interest in him; which is odd considering that he was trying to convince Sporky the opposite (basically saying the same things he said to Buzz in 1). And don’t get me started on Bonnie and Sporky. There is NO WAY IN HELL a kid is gonna play with a plastic spork toy she made in school and love it way more than her actual real toys; crying when she can’t find it(especially when she can always make another one). Her not caring about Woody and the rest of Andy’s toys completely undermines the emotional conclusion of 3; Andy gave Bonnie his toys cause he believes they would both make a new child happy and they would be in care; as shown when they were both having fun playing with the toys. I can totally imagine that when Andy returns from college and finds out Bonnie lost Woody (his childhood defining memory), he would just take back his toys.

So according to you, people/objects with souls, can't grow? Can't find new meaning or purpose? Can't realize that the life they are living could be something more? Woody doesn't leave Bonnie because she isn't playing with him, sure its a factor in the equation, but the whole point of the ending of the film is that Woody can help other toys, and other kids, get the chance to have what he had with Andy. A higher purpose.

I honestly don’t have a problem with the theme of finding purpose. I just don’t think it fits within the realm of Toy Story. It’s been hammered home time and time again that a toys purpose is to make a child happy; I mean that’s exactly why the where created in the first place. And time and time again, the toy where shown to love being played with. When you start putting I’m something like finding a new purpose/meaning, then that just raises a lot more questions: like why go through the trouble of playing dead when people are around? Why Bo Peep seems to be the first toy to ever have the idea of higher purpose? There are bad toys too, so how come there have never been a ‘Small Soldiers’ incident? By giving them the only purpose of being a child’s play thing, it keeps questions like these from arising. The theme for the first three movies remained consistent, but this movie contradicts it while still have the same theme.

When I was a kid, I found a neat stick at the beach and played with it for hours. I forgot to bring it with me when my family went home, I cried for the rest of the night and it completely ruined my day. I still remember it over a decade later. So the idea of Bonnie being addicted to a plastic spork is completely reasonable. Kids get attached to random objects all the time. When I was watching the movie I actually laughed at that aspect and thought it was perfect. Like "this kids got a ton of cool toys, *of course* she wants to play with a plastic spork instead!" is incredibly relatable. That's just how kids are. Is that aspect really so foreign to you? Haven't you ever heard of a kid ignoring an expensive holiday gift and playing in the gift's box instead?? That kinda thing happens all the time. Also, I can't for the life of me imagine a 19 year old adult taking a detour on his trip home to drive to the house of a kindergartener just to check in on the toys that he gave her. And then taking toys from a literal 5 year old who he barely knows? How do you think that conversation would go?

Champion Bescos

Not among diehard TS fans, perhaps, but I think it's otherwise commonly acknowledged that 4 is the weakest of the series and wholly unnecessary other than it was a surefire cashflow... and I have to agree with that consensus. Pixar's been facing critical mixed bags and financial bombs lately and so, of course, they pressed the panic button and ordered another Toy Story. It's unfortunately their golden egg franchise.

Can yall please react to the scream franchise movies.
