Shinigami means "angel of death". Its the grim reaper. I think someone else here already pointed out its what the soul reapers are called in the Japanese version. I think Suraj has said he's seen Death Note so maybe he's confused on that shows' interpretation of Shinigami where they look more monstrous. But they are all in effect the same reference to the grim reaper mythology. They are entities that claim souls after death. I believe Shinigami does not have the negative evil connotations the grim reaper has though.

bro im usually watever about dub and sub. code geass, death note, naruto all got good dubs and ive watched both. still more sub than dub for them but dub is good too. however the bleach dub is just not on par like the other shows. sub has so much more oomph to their voice for this show. we all know what we want to hear in the japanese
