So in the English dub I don't think they use the word Shinigami and I don't know if the series will explain what the word means. "Soul Reaper" is the English translation of Shinigami for this series. Notice I said for "this series" because they word is used in other anime, but does not always have the same translation/western interpretation. The word "Shinigami" literally means "Death God" in Japanese, and in Japanese folklore and religion they are the personification of death, grim reaper, or supernatural entities that invite humans towards death. Also, as stated, the word Shinigami pops up a lot in other animes most notably Death Note but also Soul Eater, Yu Yu Hakusho, and others.

I'll still watch because Bleach is too good to miss out on but can dub and sub be part of polls? Naruto is a show that has dub that's like just passable but I feel like for Bleach it's going to do such a disservice to the show.

i totally forgot i own the whole series and was going to do a rewatch as i never finished it. got busy with work and life and so i missed a lot of stuff and when i went back to it there was this whole "bount" arc going on so i was made confused with all the new characters. now i have an excuse to actually start the rewatch. waiting for some big events for the full lengths. orihime and my bae uryu are the GOATS of the series.

chad is mixed race actually. in the manga he is spainard and japanese. i dont know if they changed it up for the adaptation into something different or not like the mcu does with select characters

So much I want to say but can't XD. In the mean time Ichigo's sisters are Karin and Yuzu And Shinigami is literally "Death God", the dub just makes the choice to say Soul Reaper (I have a few guesses why but the only one that's not kinda spoilery is that it's because they look and act very human so they didn' want to undermine the word "God" by overly using it from the very beginning of a long running show)

You're right Garrett Gee and other community's are trash. The worst non-anime community right now is the Star Wars community and they usually get into the same type of stupid arguments the anime gets into. Still...the anime community argues over dumbest things in entertainment so they rate very high on the bad entertainment community's for me. They're one of the reasons why it took me so long to get into anime in the first place.

I cannot even explain how hyped I am for this journey. There will be slow moments just like in Naruto (I'd say not as frequent) but the action makes up for it 10 times over.

Even watching in dub, they’ll find a TON of VA’s who had roles in Naruto too. Like orihime and hinata, ukitake and gaara, Kenny and jiraiya (for a bit), Karin and Sakura, there’s a lot.

I watched all 366 in dub and it did absolutely nothing negative to my experience except having to learn new voices for the characters when watching TYBW in sub. Get off your fucking sub high horse and let people watch a show how they enjoy it

Shinigami Means Death God, when they were first translating the show to english they were worried people would mistake the characters as gods if they used the direct translation, so they changed it to Soul Reaper (Grim Reaper) instead because it better explains what they are and what they do.
