Love these episodes of the clone wars the rule of two was made after the sith academy collapsed in on itself both literally and figuratively the infighting between them was so great, the sith desired the power each other held so after that there could only be one master and one apprentice which also explains why dooku killed off the night sisters under the orders of Palpatine to prove his loyalty Grievous not being a force weilder and therefore not a true sith was allowed to be general. Also the methods employed by maul were the same as Palpatine but on a much smaller scale
