This is for the discussion on the youtube side, but the Ashfords are actually using Lloyd's status as an Earl to improve their own status. The Ashford family used to be much higher in name and supported Marianne (Lulu and Nuna's mom), but since her death, the rank of the Ashford name dropped in status. Their loyalty to Marianne is also the reason why they're sheltering Lulu and Nuna so that their royal identity doesn't get exposed.

Chris, I get you for the sibling thing but in this case it does actually make sense. Culturally it's never been uncommon for monarchies to be be incestuous to maintain a certain level of "purity", and this family is huge. The higher up they are in the chain of succession it becomes more likely that siblings may have really been the only options they would ever be allowed to pursue. Even as childen they may have told that.
