Mickey, we are on the same page. I think most anime would be far more well recieved (and just better) if they didn't heavily lean on that trope for cast and setting. I've seen videos or comments here and there of the Japanese being understandably upset that people think they are a culture of weirdo pedophiles, but at the same time the anime industry is almost entirely why. This product is easily one of Japans primary exports. Like it or not the nation is branded by the quality of the content.

Marianne was never stated to be a Number, just that she was a commoner. So Lelouch and Nunnally are full Britannians. Lelouch is the 11th prince, 17th in line. And Nunnally is 87th in line for the throne. They never mention her numbered place amongst the other princesses though.
