An amazing series finale for an amazing show. We were consistently blown away by this amazing series from David Simon and Ed Burns. Thanks for everyone who watched with us and stayed through to the end of Season 5!

It was a great journey experiencing this show again with the crew.

Alwyn Smith

I feel bad for Dukie the most

John Richards

Again, a salute to the Normies for reacting to the smartest, most realistic show in TV history

Dinero

Were you as blown away by this finale as Cheese? I think not

Kamina 1

I been refreshing the patreon app like a fiend all day.

Duke is the new Bubs Mike is the new Omar Carv is the new Daniels Sydnor is the new McNulty Slim Charles is the new Prop Joe Kenard, in time, is the new Marlo But the game stays the same. Thanks so much for this journey Normies, it's been a highlight of the channel! Season 5 is rockier than most, especially coming off the heels of the basically flawless season 4, but I knew y'all would still appreciate the ending. Mount Rushmore of Prestige Dramas: The Sopranos The Wire Breaking Bad Mad Men

GREAT finale. Thank you again Normies for taking on this series. An a special thanks to Chris, Micky, and Dustin 🙏 The lengthy discussion at the end was absolutely perfect. It warmed my heart to hear Ketty say that this has been her favorite reaction on the channel 😭 so satisfying.

To Chris's point about how rewarding the show is on rewatch, the very first scene of ep 1 w the story of Snot Boogie hits different after watching the whole series. "If Snot Boogie always stole the money and ran, why'd you let him play the game?" "Got to, man. This America." And to Marketa's point about the upcoming 2022 Simon/Burns miniseries about police corruption ("We Own This City") it may not be a direct Wire sequel but it is based on a true story, set in Baltimore, same behind the scenes team, and casting-wise it's not just Donut and Dukie: Marlo, Poot, and Savino are in it too. Look forward to those reax lol

I discovered you guys thanks to this show and I am glad I have been there with you since... this was my third time rewatching The Wire and it still hits as hard as the first time, sometimes even harder. I think you should do a separate longer post-show reaction later, maybe give your thoughts on every season and such. Lots of characters and lots of stories to cover, it takes time to process all of it backwards. Nevertheless this is honestly my most favorite show. Written, scripted and delivered perfectly, acting included. Not a single take less and not a single take more than needed... and to do this in five long seasons is even more impressive. Hats off and huge thanks to all who worked on this.

Thank you for great reactions on this show. Legendary ;)

Suraj, I think the term you're looking for is "survivorship bias". Phenomenal job all series, y'all. I knew you would give this show the attention and respect it deserves, and you did a great job of discussing it, especially with how it relates to the world we live in today. Now that you're done, I recommend reading/listening to All the Pieces Matter for all the cool behind the scenes info about how this show came together. So much cool trivia and insight in that book.

Nice jersey pat

Alwyn Smith

It's been a good journey. I really enjoyed watching your reactions to this series.

Every time I think Season 5 is just meh, I see the finale and it saves it for me. The wire is the greatest show of all time

Rico

Says The Wire doesn't get talked about. Same day it's trending all day long 🤣 the boy is unaware of society

This was my 7th or 8th watch of the series and one of my most enjoyable thanks to you guys!

Max

To be fair they filmed this reaction a week a go

Chaos T

I don't know why but season 5 was more enjoyable for me in my second viewing with the crew.

It was a heartbreaker for all of us. I like to think he would find his way out of it like Bubbles did.

Avon isn't the king. He's locked up, and anything he didn't lose the sold to Marlo for chump change. He's done. It's funny Pat said college students should watch this. Multiple major schools offer/offered courses/units in criminology, sociology, pholsophy, literature, media and more, based SOLELY on studying The Wire, even in Europe! I'd like to thank Marketa for saying this show is important and makes you a better person. I think exactly that. I have a list of "important", that not only make you a better person, but don't just have a "moral lesson" as a "bonus" for the sake of writing, but have education and debate on issues of ethics, morality, society, polocy, philosiphy and more, as their primary purpose instead of entertainement, which is secondary (but not excluded!). It included shows like The Wire, MASH, Bojack, Star Trek, and more. I'd like to say, while I"ve had issues with some of your reaction series, and you missed or misunderstood some parts of the show, you gave this series the respect and attention and patience it needs and deserves. Kudos. There is no-one that has no problems with The Wire's fifth season (which also is significntly better on rewatches, by the way, but even including it, so ends, by an enourmous gulf, the greatest show ever made. I'd like to end this series with a poetic quote from a critic on the Wikipedia article: "No other TV show has ever loved a city so well, damned it so passionately, or sung it so searingly."

Mike

"-30- has been traditionally used by journalists in North America to indicate the end of a story or article that is submitted for editing and typesetting. It is commonly employed when writing on deadline and sending bits of the story at a time, via telegraphy, teletype, electronic transmission, or paper copy, as a necessary way to indicate the end of the article." Thanks for a great reaction, y'all. What a show.

This has really been an incredible watch along and I'm mega happy I got to revisit this amazing TV series with The Normies crew. Thanks for providing us with a lot of entertainment, it sucks that use have now finished watching The Wire but it would be so awesome to see you all watch another HBO series. The Sopranos for example would be a great watch along, it's really similar to The Wire in terms of the quality and great storytelling and it would be dope to see this crew again.

Philip G.

The wire was cute, but The Sopranos is the greatest show of all time

2021-11-15 04:29:14 The Normies missed the biggest lie LEVI told Mario… “THERES NOT ANOTHER LAWYER THAT CAN DO BETTER FOR YOU” was the biggest lie. Truth was ANY LAWYER could’ve gotten Marlo off and his whole crew would’ve gotten off as well, THE WIRE WAS ILLEGAL & that means all the evidence inadmissible in court & Levi knew that. LEVI even tried to get Chris off the murders because there was no link to them, the DNA was only for the murder of Micheals father & Levi said he can try to beat it in court. But LEVI wanted to save only himself & took a deal to Free Marlo, force Chris to take all the murders & lied to Marlo that the DNA linked him to the murders, and to force most his Lieutenants to take the years on all the drugs. This where the beauty of the WIRE shows that Marlo was only STREET SMART, because Stringer & Prop Joe would’ve understood the paperwork on the charges against them about the illegal wire tap.
