Jesus christ am I the only one who can't stand the voice actors in dub? Japanese VA in AoT is godtier Welp still glad some of you guys are catching up to one of the greatest Anime. Hope you guys enjoy

The biggest drawback of the dub, by far, is Eren’s VA. Some of the dub actors give performances that I actually prefer or find on par with the sub, but not the main character. Yuki Kaji has so much agony, grief, and nuance to Eren, especially as the show progresses, and it’s truly a career high performance for a god tier VA. The dub just makes Errn sound… whiny. Angsty. Constantly angry, and not the deep kind of anger. More so than the sub or the manga ever did, and it makes you lose a lot of empathy for the character.

Nikki's reaction to Eren getting eaten was EVERYTHING i could have asked for 😭. Pat, and Nikki straight tag teaming Rana while she tries to process what just happened lmao. They were right at the end of the day. Kid got cocky.

The dub isn’t terrible but it seems like some of the cast for the dub just does not fit the characters

As much as people keep mentioning how bad Eren's voice actor has been, Armin's screeching is what has me particularly concussed on my couch right now. Lol thankfully it hasn't taken away from the quality of the reaction. We come for you guys, not to re-watch the show. So long as Nikki, Pat, and Rana aren't bothered by the dub it's all good. Suraj is going to struggle with this the most since his preference is the Japanese voice actors.

True. I believe when season 4 was airing he was re-watching the entire show in dub. But he's also mentioned that nothing beats the AoT Japanese voice actors for him. Nahid was the biggest advocate for the English dub i think

Yeah, the Armin scream made me cringe. I don't mind the dub too much, but when I think about the raw emotion that the Japanese VA's bring to the table, the dub can't even be compared.

Personally I really enjoy the dub, the unique traits of each of the voice actors really shine through to me, when it comes to Bryce voicing Eren I think the level of cocky in normal speech combined with edge and angst in his anger is a perfect fit actually, especially for season one eren who had extreme anger and fought off his extreme temper. My next biggest favorite would be armin, I think in English his screams are raw, lethal, and insane, exactly how screaming from pure despair should sound. When it comes to Armin’s japanese voice, the actor did very well but in my personal opinion sounds too much like a young girl at times, I think the voice actor in Japan was actually associated with female hentai roles too.

I totally agree. I think Eren and Armin's Dub VA's do a pretty decent job conveying the proper emotions. Though I watched the dub on Toonami before the sub so I'm a little biased.

it's hard giving props to dub version if you already know how perfect the sub is, especially when it comes to the soundtrack playing over dialogue. i know pat can't comprehend and read subs at the same time.
