I think that the Japanese version of Gaara's speech is so much more badass. He says: "If you still can't forgive the sand, then I will give you my head once the war is over." It really shows his commitment to the cause, in my opinion.

Yes, there was a filler where Naruto met Kurotsuchi and Chojuro while preparing for the war, and if iirc during that arc that guy tried to start shit because he refused to work with one of the villages. So they put him in prison till the war was over so he wouldn’t get in the way. He was stopped by Naruto’s Talk no Jutsu, so the implication here is that while in prison he had time to cool off and had a change of hart
