I love this! Especially since all of you but Chris haven’t seen it. I would love to see more old disney movie reactions. Snow White would be good, also Bambi. Little Mermaid too since Suraj hasn’t seen it. Lol Also yay LOTR is coming!!

If you've ever tried to learn lucid dreaming you'll have spent a lot of time writing down your dreams when you wake up. And those dreams were most likely very, very long, and very vivid (if you were diligent about improving your dream recall). I can say that the book and the way Alice responds to what's going on reads exactly like a very long entry in my dream journal. All the way down to how one dream fades into another, and how Alice accepts things that should be terrifying and confusing fearlessly.

I remember reading the theory that the book was 100% inspired or expanded from the author's dreams and that no drugs or hallucinations were involved, and with how uncanny the book was, so incredibly familiar to my own longer dream journal entries, I really believe it was just based on his dreams. So I don't think Alice is being naïve or foolish, I think she's being how we all are in our dreams, because we all just go along with stuff that should completely stun or confuse us. And a lot of the time, on some level, we intuitively understand there's no danger.

Some classic Disney reactions could be fun, Snow White, Fantasia and especially Dumbo, because I like watching people be broken. But seriously Micky if you haven’t seen Snow White and you appreciate hand drawn animation do yourself a favor and check it out. It’s the Sistine Chapel of hand drawn animation, just absolutely gorgeous.

Wow! This was an unexpected treat. Quotes like, “Start at the beginning and when you come to the end, stop,” have shaped my consciousness. I also love the lack of sentiment or “heart” in this film. Some people see that as a flaw but the cerebral nature of this film is endearing.

For blind reactions I'd say theatrical. The EE is not for everyone and in terms of just filmmaking the theatrical cuts are better films. It depends on preference. While I am glad I checked out the EE eventually I still prefer the original cuts.

I will admit there are some great scenes in the EE that should not have been cut so I think everyone who loves LotR to watch both versions eventually to see which they like best.

For a real artistic feast for the eyes in old-school Disney animation, the hallmark is Sleeping Beauty. The painter Eyvind Earle was the visual stylist, and it's unusually elegant and beautiful, with lots of verticals and right angles in the trees. And the best villain(ess) ever.
