I didn't find the Chicago sex abuse scene as disturbing as Luke's rape scene because I think with the Chicago one they wanted to show us that even outside Gilead (and even more so in warzones) sex abuse is normalized and used as an exchange tool, and that for people outside Gilead the Handmaids can be seen as "whores" for allowing this to happen, like complicit in the whole system, and that's a win for Gilead, making it seem like the guilt is on the victims not them, which is how patriarchy works. But the Luke scene I really hope they address it at some point in the future because I'm not sure what message they were trying to send, I know that they want to show that violence begets violence, but for June to exert it on the one person that has been supporting her is very disturbing.

Hey guys just a heads up episode 1, 4 and 5 is not with the rest of the episodes in this handmaid's uncut playlists section thing lol I don't know what it's called. The handmaid's tale link I guess lol I had to keep scrolling and searching them on my own, That's how much I didn't want to watch this show alone, cuz I know it can be torture porn at times and I like your commentary. Keep up the good work

This was a crazy episode. I can get why June did what she did to Luke. I took it as a way of getting her power and agency back and having her being in control sexually for the first time in a long time. I don't think she hurt Luke maybe a little emotionally and I think that Luke kind of understood a little bit that this is what she needs after the abuse she went through. For me personally if my wife needed that, for me not touch her for her to be a bit domineering and in charge and forceful with sex in order to help her get over issues like that then I'll do what I got to do. To me it's better that, then her being hurt and not being able to hug or touch her and her being sad and crying all the time etc. If that's what it takes to help her get her to somewhat normal, I'll suck it up and deal with it for a while anyway. But that's just me.

I was really sad for Luke in this episode. He has June back with him, but it’s not her, not the same person. And I mean obviously, she’s much different and he’s much different, but for their reunion to be this way left me feeling a bit unsettled about the future for them. Maybe it is what June thought she “needed” to happen, but it was very clearly wrong. From the moment she finally got to Canada, I had this feeling that her and Luke were not going to work anymore. I’m hoping I’m wrong still and that they can get through their trauma together, but I had wishful thinking that it would happen before a scene like what we got happened. Hope to see growth and recovery for both of them soon!
