-Blakes dad: Ghira Belladonna alludes to Bagheera from the Jungle Book. He was the former High Leader of the White Fang. -They mentioned the current High Leader “Khan”.. & Shere Khan is another jungle book character😊 -I like how they went with this theme for the jungle filled island, Menagerie.

Pretty sure the tailed fox Faunus is voiced by Paul St Peter, AKA Xemnas from Kingdom Hearts That an Menagerie is based on Australia and its history.

And the mother is supposed to be a wolf not a cat faunus, her name is the same as the mother wolf from the jungle book! So blake gets cat genetics from her dad it seems

Volume 1-3 was giving us little information on the world of RWBY it showed us a lot of fights and gave us strong plot in volume 3 which is why a lot of people love those volumes the most, volumes 4-5 give us world building which is heavily needed in story telling a lot of people don’t like it because of that sadly, volumes 6-8 are a mixture of both but less world building and more story than anything and I appreciate what the team working on RWBY has done not a lot of people realise these things

The world building wasn't the problem, it was the slow plot. V5 and to a lesser extent v4 drag on longer then they need to. You can miss whole episodes, and still not miss anything important to the plot.
