I think one issue we have is that there is a rather bad habit of romanticizing WW2 way too much. We love making the entire conflict as a homogenized fight between good and evil, and ignoring the harsh realities of the actual situation that civilians, soldiers, and leaders had to face before, during, and after the conflict. If you would like to watch more WW2 content from different perspectives, I would recommend the movies Letters from Iwo Jima (the sequel to Flags of our Fathers), Come and See, and Generation War.

Suraj misinterpreted that cab driver scene. The cab driver was saying that Leckie had the harder part of the war, so he gave him a free ride. There was no insult intended, though the cabbie probably could have phrased it better. Also the guy who Vera turned down played Garrus Vakarian in Mass Effect.

I think lone survivor would be a really good reaction I dont remember it glorifying war so I think it should be in the running

The military was desegregated again for the Korean War. It had been desegregated before but Woodrow Wilson re-segregated it. Experiences in WWII taught the military that desegregation needed to happen.

People always(rightly) mention the 200,000 killed by the atomic bombs, but fail to realize that the fire bombing of Tokyo on March 9-10 1945 killed 100,000 people and made one million people homeless,and 500,000 overall non-atomic bomb civilians killed from fire bombing in 1945.

I read Sledge's book after watching this. It is by far the most brutal book I have ever read. Highly recommend reading it!

Are they serious about Generation Kill? I know people have been suggesting it but I haven't seen any confirmation. If they do watch it, it would be a nice change of pace. Instead of dark and dramatic you get dark and funny.

They are working on making a third series called "Masters of the Air" which is going to be about bomber pilots over Germany. And if I'm not mistaken it is going to be an apple tv+ exclusive.

I don't like it being on apple tv+. I already have Netflix, Disney+, Amazon Prime, Anime Lab and Stan. I really don't want to pay for any more streaming services

As some people have already said i would love for you guys to do Generation Kill the tone is way different but the characters are great and its a look at more modern warfare.

Just so you know atomic bombs and thermonuclear bombs which we have now are not the same, thermonuclear bombs can be hundreds to thousands of times more powerful, and I don't mean to down play Hiroshima and Nagasaki, I'm just saying that the bombs we use today would cause much more lasting damage
