Damn Rana be cold. Wanting to play the paternity papers prank on some poor unsuspecting victim, at least Ziggy earned it by putting his dick pic as Maui’s wallpaper, hope she at least finds a deserving victim. Oh how thing change, in season 1 the Normies were aghast at the polices ability to wire tap phones, and now when they hear the police can’t wire tap a phone for human trafficking they are once again aghast. Although I must admit I was also taken aback by the knowledge that human trafficking doesn’t rate a wire tap.

I got to take a bit of an exception to the idea that Frank made his own bed. He didn’t kill the union, he’s stuck in a bad situation and made a bad choice in order to feed a scumbag lobbyist money to save his union. It’s easy to say they should all just go find new work, just like it’s easy to tell someone living in the ghetto to pick themselves up by their bootstraps, but it’s not easy in fact it’s damn near impossible. I think you all just under value what good paying blue collar work does for our society. They could go get new work, but it won’t pay well, offer them insurance or a retirement program. We built our middle class on good paying blue collar jobs and now it’s dying out and to tell people to move on really is short selling the problem and it’s effects on society.

Like Spiddy already stated in the post ep discussion (Chris as well.) Stringer made a tactical business decision taking out D. The man isn't pure evil because he doesn't show remorse. In his mind he just believes he made the right call for the Barksdale organization. A move Avon was too emotional to make. No doubt a bad human being. But a great character nonetheless. I find his way of operating so interesting.

Fun detail: The guy on the dartboard in Frank's office is Robert Irsay (Jim Irsay's dad) who moved the Colts from Baltimore to Indy.

Regarding Frank and lobbying: I didn't see it so much as Frank shaming Bruce, but more like Frank reminding Bruce that for a bunch of people, this dock life is the only life they've known for generations. Much like the way Deangelo was talking about how ingrained the game was in his family during his confession. It's easier to judge from outside the life, but for someone who feels trapped in it, it's not so easy to just break the cycle. Bruce and his kids get to reap the benefits of an ancestor putting in the work to break that cycle, while Frank and crew aren't quite that lucky. And even if dock life isn't so luxurious or respectable as white collar work, Frank wants Bruce to respect that their survival is on the line. People still need to work. People still need to eat. And if Bruce fails them, they're gonna suffer hard while his family's still gonna be fine. Also great summary of the connections by Micky at the end. All the pieces matter.

Backwash is the receding tide. Perhaps the tide is the confusion and obfuscation that's falling away as the cops get to grips with the organisation at the port. Perhaps the tide is the help and investment that Frank and his union need, and it's pulling away and leaving them helpless and stranded on the shore. Perhaps Stringer is the tide and Avon the shore, Stringer's secrets and deception pulling him inevitably away from his best friend and business partner. Perhaps all of those things, and more.

I don't get the Sobatka hate. In general, if you read up on the history of the labor movement.... Franks decisions might be socially duplicitious, but are morally justifiable.

Naruto starts as a little kid, and he has redeeming qualities. He works hard, when he wants to. And he has people hating him for something thats not his fault. Ziggy is a man-child with no redeeming qualities.
