“A whole new worlddddd”

S2 has one of my 3 favorite versions of the theme

Michael

Is it just on my phone or is the opening Audible plug from Micky cropped wrong? His face is partially cut off for me in some shots and the text (book titles & Expanse logo) are majorly cut off. Might just be on my end.

Kiana B.

omg very EXCITE

Kiana B.

season 2 is great. period.

A L

Not just you. I was about to post the same thing.

A L

season 2 isn't slow, and it isn't bad. The weakest season is season 5 by a long way, but season 3 and 4 are so good it's easy to see how season 2 isn't viewed as highly. Really can't wait until we get a few more episodes into things.

Laura

Aaaah I love this season so much. It's one for the close-watchers and note-takers I think. Can't wait for more reactions and to see how your views of Frank, Nick, Ziggy etc. change throughout the season. This probably won't be your last dick-chat, either!

Ryan

Welcome to season two we got an International Brotherhood of Stevedores, stained glass windows, boats, all the racist slurs, and Beadie Russel with her big box of dead girls. It’s a great season but also a divisive one,

Kamina 1

That dick conversation at the end of discussion was EVERYTHING 😆. At the end of the whole thing, i was sitting there wondering how did we get here lol. Fucking Suraj of course.

joe shmoe

havent finished the reaction but i hope yall dont ignore that the dock patrol officer is michael scotts boo?!

Ryan

they get Porn Stache from OitNB and the Sherrif from True Blood but they miss Holly Flax.

Ryan

Micky - the L series, J series, F series stuff isn’t about skills but a hierarchy in the union. The earlier your letter in the alphabet the higher on the totem pole you are. So when an L series stevedore shows up in the morning they see that there is only work for H series and below, they don’t get to work that day. When more ships are in the higher letter series guys get to work.

Chaos T

This show it's a sliding scale. Even the weakest season is better than most shows.

Dick Talk with The Normies lol

Nerd Going Outside

Was interesting to see everyone's reaction to the rape joke. It seems really fucked up and out of place to a group of (I'm making some assumptions here) mostly college-educated 20-somethings, and rightly so - you couldn't tell that joke in most polite company in 2020. It IS gross. But we're looking at an all-male environment of working-class middle aged guys 20 years ago. These are guys who were probably born in the late 50s and came of age in the 70s. Many of them probably didn't graduate high school. My father was a commercial fisherman and I'm probably ten or fifteen years older than y'all, so I grew up around the docks and these kind of dudes at this exact late 90s/early 00s time and the humor? Totally authentic. I'm not saying it is RIGHT of course - it IS fucked up, and I think you're right that the juxtaposition with the dead girls right after is totally intentional. But it struck me watching you watch this how much has changed in 20 years. Progress!

Eric H

As a guy working in the trucking industry, this kind of humor wouldn't even register on anyone's radar, let alone have enough of an impact to give someone pause. There's still a loooooooooong way to go for a lot of working class folks out there, but I do also have to say, knowing and working alongside them, they're totally not worth the effort it would take to try to teach them a g-damn thing.

John M.

The can-tell-s/he's-dead thing happens so much on The Wire it's almost a running gag. I can think of at least five "bodies" that you can clearly see are moving over the course of the series - probably a combo of honest mistakes, newly hi-def images and newly widescreen images. Don't ask me what the other ones are (or talk about them). Too spoilery, obvs.

Chandra

The guy who is playing Nick Sobotka, Pablo Schreiber, also plays Mad Sweeney in American Gods.

Chris Partlow

Did you guys notice the theme song change?

Anonymous

All those worries about viewers being turned off on season 2 I think will be an afterthought, especially with this platform. The post-viewing discussions with an experienced guide will(I think) lead these new viewers to the promise land of understanding why The Wire is one convoluted masterpiece as opposed to a lot of die-hards who got the bigger picture upon rewatches.

Kiana B.

honestly already thinking about/anticipating you guys watching s3 and 4 aaahhh!

Anonymous

Heeeeey guys just in case no one else mentions it you don't wanna use the term 'polack.' That's the derogatory version. They'll refer to themselves that way on the show but other people shouldn't. You might make some real life Poles annoyed, tho they're probably used to people not knowing which is which so they might cut you some slack.

"Boris...why is it always Boris?"
