The fact that one investigator happened to pull out his umbrella right as he walked by them and blocking his view kind of saved Lights ass. He could have been the last person to see Naomi alive with Light as a prime suspect.

Raw intelligence yes but overall light is more crafty and a master lier who can bullshit his way outta any situation. Remember how he got Ray shook and he was bluffing for most of it and here as well. Their deductive skills are close to equal with L having more experience . Also L resources are an advantage as well, force and money

I have to agree with Marketa's frustration here. Death note has a few notable female characters but they aren't done justice. And I hate the way Light toys with them. It's just vile.

Death Note's primarily a character study of Light and a morality tale. Killing off a likeable/potentially impressive female character is not bad writing, it needs to happen for the story. Major and impressive female characters are a moralistic preference, not a standard for a good show, just like you wouldn't need great male characters in something female focused for it to be good.

Debateable. If L & a ton of other characters can act as foil for light to explore his nature, then they could have done it with good female characters too.

I understand Marketa's frustration, but one thing I will add to all else said is to look at the extenuating circumstances. It would have been better Light said it himself, but I think it makes reasonable sense that if you believe the police are suspects as well then you may get help outside of them. Even more so she could know by experience that L would have no issues enlisting a minor if he thought it crucial to the case. Not really a spoiler, but a theory you might not want to here now: Lastly (and I don't know if this is the case) I feel like Naomi had to die from a writing stand point just because of how good she is. If she teamed up with L, I can't really imagine anyway this story could make it more than maybe another 5 episodes without getting really shitty about plot armor points.

I know a lot of people start to hate Light but for me I just love him more and more😏sorry not sorry🤷🏾‍♀️I dont kno how many time I’ve watched this but I still get excited every time I see this man scheming and plotting and being diabolical lol if y’all could see the smile on my face while watching him do these evil acts. I swear I’m not crazy I just love a good villain 😌 I guess it goes without saying who I’m rooting for and what team I’m on😌

Having to write people as stupid to make your character look smart is a poor excuse. It's better to have the character come up with better plans. Her giving the idea was lame and this show could have come up with a better solution

Wow.. yall seriously underestimate the power of sociopaths and emotional manipulation. Imagine: Your FIANCE, the love of your life was just murdered. You set out and try to personally bring the killer to justice. Suddenly a handsome guy who is known to have helped other investigations comes by and says he'll help you. He even mentions that he's working for the greatest investigator in the world, someone that only other investigators are supposed to know about. This is all you know of the guy. Because you're not on the outside, listening to his innermost thought process and seeing a literal god of death following him.

There is a reason why this is my favorite episode. It's tense as Hell and devastating. Also, the way Ryuk laughs his head off when Light gets Naomi's real name still shocks me. Could you imagine seeing someone's lifespan go from decades to seconds? It's crazy funny, but not in a ha-ha way, more like an "oh shit" way. I always found it interesting how people try to pick a side "Light or L?" To me, it's always been about the way these two incredible minds go about finding each other. After all, by then end the real winner was us, the viewer. We get to experience an incredible story with great (if not Good, as in Good V Evil) characters, awesome music, and an engaging plot. What more could we ask for in storytelling?

Pats question about about "if you just write names in a book does that make you a murderer" is hilarious. YES IT DOES PAT. That's like saying if I were to kill some one with a gun I didn't murder them, because it was technically the bullet that killed them. Light wants the people who he writes down to die and knows that writing their names will cause their death. It's literally no different then if you or me or whomever went out, bought a gun and just started killing people who they personally judged deserves to die. lol Pat in a way is arguing in the defense of school shooters and mass murderer terrorists. But I still love him and his reactions.

Marketa is right. She was extra dumb. Just ask yourself if you would have done the same thing in her situation. I hear what people are saying that she was vulnerable and he manipulated her and stuff but...I think this is a case of bad pacing. If he had worked on her for 2 or 3 episodes and then got her name it would have been more believable but they've spent like what an hour or 2 together? Is that really long enough to be manipulated into giving away your real name to someone who tells you they are the chief's son and in the taskforce despite having no evidence to prove it? It's funny reading comments because I just realize how different I am to most people. Like a lot of people are unwilling to acknowledge that the writing of the character may have been weak this episode. Or that it was hard to believe that this FBI agent who is so smart she worked a bunch of things out is so easily fooled by Light. Like people would rather simp for Light as a genius or act like she was so fragile she became a complete idiot suddenly. Idk, I just think when people really love things they don't want to hear criticism about the thing they like.

Yea I freaking love Death Note, but Naomi is easily the most overrated character in terms of intelligence. I think Misa is way smarter until she is dumbed down to just a waifu in P2.

The scenario that Nahid described, where the robber that didn't fire the gun is also facing life in prison, is called "Felony Murder"... If a suspect kills someone while committing a felony, the suspect AND all his accomplices can be charged for that murder, even if they were just a driver in the getaway car that was waiting outside. There's even another level to it, if you and a partner rob a store, and the store clerk kills your partner out of self defense, YOU can be charged for felony murder of your partner because of the store clerks self defense kill, because you were committing a felony.

This showed not how dumb she was , just how manipulative Kira is.... she's just one female character in episode 7... ofc things were gonna go this way

Yeah we know WHY she was dumb but she should have still been smart enough to not be. lol also I disagree him. To me, this didn’t show how manipulative he was. It just showed how dumb she was. Marketa is no FBI agent and she heard the guy mention him helping with the case too. But they literally just concluded that Kira needs a name. He then went on to say that the task force is hiding their identities. Then proceeds to ask her for her real name. This is after he follows her in different directions once their conversation is initially over. in conjunction with his desperate attempt to get her attention. not to mention supposedly being on the task force but also revealing it to someone who really claims to have been an FBI agent who worked under L. From her perspective, he should be a sloppy member of the task force to not be so careful around HER. Which means he’s probably lying. He already said that he would pass on her information to his dad. That should have been enough. There’s nothing else they really needed to do. Even if you wanted to get on the task force. It would be better to wait for confirmation before rushing in. Sure, she’s suffering from her fiancé having been killed. But she’s doing investigative work. She still using her brain. And she did use of rain all the way up until the last minute. So, unfortunately, it doesn’t really pull off what I was trying to. We all feel bad for her. But it was her who slipped up. Rather than him stepping up. Everyone said it. He was due

I believe it. It's been implied and even said that to the outside world, Light just seems like a likeable and trustworthy guy. All the girls love him. His family have high hopes for him. So while WE can see Light is a monster. I don't blame others for not seeing it right away.
